Literacy   English Proficiency:  ESL classes with a basic curriculum of daily life activities to promote English reading, listening, and speaking.  Tutoring for children from kinder to high school. Citizenship Literacy:  CIS examination, community leadership, voting and self-advocacy. Financial Literacy: How to open a bank account, budget, goal setting, credit loan and home ownership education/information. Health Care Education:  Clinic, health care education and prevention programs to address primary care needs in the community. Vocational Training: Basic skills workshops in carpentry, painting, commercial cleaning, etc. To increase opportunities for permanent jobs.

Familiy Leadership   Parenting Classes:  In formation and advice on dealing with common pediatric parenting issues and problems, including nutrition, growth, development, potty training, safety, first aid, and common infections. Domestic Violence:  Information/ workshops on different forms such as: physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and other abusive behaviors and its prevention. Teen Mentoring:  Programs that empower teens to make responsible decisions and have accountability for their actions by creating positive community attachment and strengthening community involvement with family and other youth.

They establish their family in East L.A., and their children Chucho, Paco, Memo, Irene, Toni, and Jimmy deal with youth culture and the L.A. Police in the 50's. As the second generation become adults in the 60's, the focus shifts to Jimmy, his marriage to Isabel (a Salvadorian refugee), their son, and Jimmy's journey to becoming a responsible parent.
